I don’t know what it is this year, but I am very excited for Valentine’s Day. I have been looking forward to it for weeks, and I cannot figure out what makes this year different from any other.

Truly, I never decorate for this holiday or buy a new outfit to wear or even want to celebrate it at all. This year, however, I have had a ton of fun decorating our master bedroom with this simple and romantic string light and velvet heart garland combo, and I have gone add-to-cart crazy with so many V-Day outfit options (90-percent of which I never ordered — raise your hand if you do the same thing).

I did find some pajamas at LOFT that I simply could not pass up, though.

I have been wanting to overhaul my PJ drawer for quite some time now since almost all of my jammies are years old, and when I saw this adorable striped set on the LOFT website, I knew they were the perfect way to begin my pajama upgrade.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my old pajamas. They are comfortable and serve their purpose, but I am at a stage in my life where I want to invest in sleepwear that looks pretty and also makes me feel pretty. It’s important to me. And as I type that out, it sounds silly, but crisp, clean matching pajamas make me feel like a better version of myself when I go to bed each night. Plus, I want to put a little more effort into my sleepwear for my husband — to be clear, he has never complained about what I wear to bed. PJs are what he sees me in most of the time because I change into them as soon as I get home from work every day and on the weekends I wear them until almost noon. I just feel … blah … when I’m bopping around the house in the same plaid pajama pants I’ve been wearing since 2014 with whatever T-shirt happens to be clean.

OK, back to this cute jammie set.

I have never actually owned a matching pajama set like this one and it made me feel so good to splurge on it for myself.

I did get the set on sale and noticed it has stayed on sale (30-50 percent off) since I purchased it.

The button-front top and drawstring shorts fit true-to-size (I ordered my regular medium) and are incredibly comfy. Plus, the shorts have an elastic waistband for extra stretch.

I was concerned this set would be stiff, but it is not all. And sleeping in the collared top didn’t bother me one bit (something else I thought I might have an issue with).

The arm holes of the top are oversized and the pocket on the front adds the sweetest touch.

And for all my mama friends out there, the top is completely nursing friendly.

I love how dainty and feminine the stripes are, too. Plus, because it is a shorts and short-sleeve set, these PJs will be perfect for spring and summer. They aren’t thick and bulky, so they will transition well as we anticipate warmer evenings ahead.

The fun thing is I get to wear them to our Valentine’s Day dinner!

That’s right — I am wearing my jammie jams to dinner.

Three years ago Justin and I started a Valentine’s Day tradition of cooking a beautiful meal at home and eating in our pajamas. Each year he makes bacon-wrapped scallops and they are absolutely delectable. This man knows his way around the kitchen, I tell ya.

The first year we did this it was out of necessity. We didn’t have money to spend on dinner out for Valentine’s Day, so Justin cooked a special meal for us to enjoy at home. It was so fun to just stay home, have a glass of wine, and eat together in our pajamas that we decided to do it the next year. And then it became our little tradition. If you know me, you know I love traditions.

Therefore, I decided to spring for some new PJs this year for our at-home Valentine’s date.

I hope you all enjoy these pajamas as much as I have. Sending you much love this Valentine’s Day!
