While I enjoy shopping for new fashion as much as the next gal, I also love digging deep in my wardrobe to pair pieces I haven’t thought to pair together before.
Sometimes it’s a complete flop, but most of the time I love what I come up with.
Today, I am sharing the different ways I took my favorite dress from last summer — a darling white button-front frock — and refreshed it for this spring using complementary pieces I already had. All of these looks are great as we begin transitioning into spring here in North Carolina and they definitely add a bit of sass to my style.
While my exact dress is no longer available online, I found some comparable options. Those are listed at the bottom of the post.
With a graphic T & front knot
I have been loving the front knot look lately, especially with high-waisted jeans. However, layering a T over a dress and adding a front knot makes for a super cute outfit, too.
My “Kannapolis 1906” T is one of my favorite graphic shirts right now. For you local folks, I picked it up at Nostalgia Hollow.
With a long-sleeve basic T & front knot
Same concept as above but with a plain black long-sleeve top. The long sleeves are perfect for cooler spring days but it still looks cute and trendy knotted. I always turn to Target for wardrobe staples like this.
With a button-down blouse & front tie
If you can’t tell, I love layering and this chambray blouse is my favorite way to layer over this dress. While the previous two styles I mentioned are more casual, I consider this one more office appropriate, perhaps for a Friday look.
Adding a button-down blouse with a front tie to (almost) any dress is a flattering way to accentuate your natural waistline and to give your outfit a little extra character.
With a denim jacket
My denim jacket will always be my go-to when I simply do not know what else to wear. It is light and comfortable but still provides enough warmth for transitioning from winter to spring.
With an oversized sweater
I am also a fan of tossing on an oversized sweater and calling it a day. This pink chenille cardigan from Aerie is incredibly cozy and warm, and I have been wearing it with everything possible the last few weeks — remember my “5 Ways to Wear Denim Overalls” post?
Hopefully this inspired you to find new ways to wear items you already have hanging in your closet. As always, thanks for reading. See you next time!
