Here is a fun fact about me: I love children’s literature. So much so that I took a master’s level class in children’s lit a couple years ago and had every intention of abandoning my current profession in communications to pursue a career as a children’s librarian.
I am still considering that dream.
For now, though, I just enjoy sweet little stories with Jack.
With Halloween coming up, I wanted to invest in new books (and jammies) for Jack. After all, Halloween season is my favorite. And holidays are all the more special with fresh pajamas and fun reads.
To celebrate Halloween, these are the titles I ordered for Jack, Justin, and me to enjoy.
- Stumpkin by Lucy Ruth Cummins — My FAVORITE; the illustrations are adorable
- Five Little Pumpkins by Ben Mantle
- Happy Halloween Little Critter by Mercer Mayer
- Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson
- You’re my Little Pumpkin Pie by Natalie Marshall
- Goodnight Goon: A Petrifying Parody by Michael Rex
- Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell
- How to Make Friends with a Ghost by Rebecca Green — My second favorite; the illustrations are so good
- This Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton
Many of these titles are a little old for Jack right now, but I still thoroughly enjoy reading them to him. And he laughs and giggles each time I alter my voice in any way while reading; he thinks it’s the best! Because the books are a little more advanced, I love that they will grow and age well with Jack and we will be able to cherish them for Halloweens to come. Books can be an investment, and they are one that I fully support making.
Halloween Books
Since we can’t do bedtime reading without fun, comfy pajamas, I am rounding up my favorite Halloween jammies from across the internet.
Halloween Jammies
I bought these and these made by Burt’s Bees because that brand of footed pajamas are what fit our growing Jack best right now.
It makes my mama heart so happy that we are creating traditions like this with Jack. Hopefully, each year he will look forward Halloween season when mom brings these books out of storage to read together. We are making memories, and I love that.
