Sometimes, achieving a desired look for your home doesn’t take a ton of money. Sometimes, all you need is a mediocre clearance find and a little vision.
In January I added two mirrors to my Target shopping cart online that were $80 each. I loved the size, shape, and antique gold color of them. But I simply could not justify $160 plus tax for mirrors to hang above our bedroom nightstands. So, I never submitted the order.
One week later, though, I found two mirrors on clearance for $18 each at T.J. Maxx that were nearly identical in size and shape to the ones I was eyeing at Target. The only problem was they had silver frames, not gold.
After circling the rack for a solid 20 minutes, I decided to buy the mirrors even though the frame color wasn’t right for me. I knew it would be easy to change the silver to gold using Rub ‘n Buff.
Here they are when I first brought them home:
I brought them home and immediately knocked out this quick DIY to change the silver to gold.
Rub ‘n Buff is like magic! It is so easy to use for projects like this (much easier than spray paint). Look at the difference:
For under $40 I was able to achieve the look I wanted for our bedroom.
I hope this inspires you to think outside the box and to keep your eyes open for great, cheap finds that you can transform into your own creations!
