I watched a TikTok recently where the creator talked about how gallery walls are out of style.

You know what I have to say about this trend that’s emerging on social media with “interior designers” telling people that their homes are “out of style?”

Shove it.

If they aren’t paying your mortgage or rent, then they don’t get to dictate how you decorate and style your home.

If you love gallery walls, then toss a gallery of frames on your wall.

If you love shiplap, then nail that sh*t up.

My point is, if you love it and if looking at it every day in your space makes you happy then that’s all that matters.

I say all of this as I finish hanging a gallery wall featuring family photos on our bedroom wall between the windows. I absolutely adore how it turned out, and a complete stranger on social media screaming that it’s tacky isn’t going to make me feel otherwise.

The photos I selected for this arrangement are from our fall family photo session with Morgan Williams Photography based here in Raleigh, NC. This was the second photoshoot we’ve done with Morgan, and she is such a wonderful family photographer to work with. As a mom of four little boys, she knows how challenging it can be to corral kiddos for the camera and she is truly an expert at making it happen. She even fed Jack macaroni and cheese during our in-home session — a small act that helped him warm up to her quickly.

Our photos are indicative of her styling and posing expertise.

Anyway, I love these pictures of our little trio and wanted them on display in Justin’s and my bedroom.

I chose these faux wood grain frames because I worked with them before in our family room and knew I would adore them in our bedroom, as well.

To draw the eye up toward the ceiling, creating the illusion of a taller ceiling, I hung the frames vertically.

I wish I had groundbreaking tips for you for hanging a gallery wall. Alas, I have tried every tip and trick out there and there is no good, quick, or easy way to hang picture frames in a row.

I hope this look inspires you to show off your family photos in a way that brings joy to your world, though. Because life is too short to avoid anything that makes you happy because it’s “not trendy” anymore.
