One of the best compliments I have ever received was when someone told me my house is homey.

I love to think that our home is, in fact, a space that people feel comfortable in, and I enjoy finding ways to make it a warm and inviting place to be.

Recently, I stumbled upon the blog Nesting with Grace by Brooke Christen and have completely fallen for her swoon-worthy home style.

Her blog is filled with amazing home tips, essentials oil guides, sweet treat recipes, and more, but my absolute most favorite thing on her site is her magic light trick.

In this post, Brooke shows you how to turn any wall sconce into a functional light without hardwiring. The trick? Tap-on puck lights.

That’s right — she attaches battery-operated quick lights to beautiful sconces using wire and then hangs the sconce on the wall!

It is such a quick, easy, and cost-effective way to add charm to any space in your home.

I really wanted to try Brookes’s magic light trick in our living room. On each end of our sofa we have empty walls that could benefit from some sconces. Plus, I would love to be able to ditch the table lamp we have on our end table next to the front door.

It took about one hour to complete this little project, and I think it adds a warm touch to our already cozy home.

Our dark bronze barn lights came from Wayfair.

I already love the industrial vibe they add to our living room.

For the puck lights, I ordered this set of six. I know we only needed two for this quick project, but I figured we will definitely be able to use the other four later on. Plus, this set came with a remote.

The battery-operated lights tap on and off, but they can also be controlled with the remote, which features an on and off function, a dimmer, and a timer.

They don’t give off a ton of light, but it is enough to illuminate the immediate area around the sconces (which I am perfectly happy with).

What do you think, y’all? Do you love the new sconces as much as I do?

We hope to replace our couches soon, but did I tell you our water heater has to be replaced ASAP? Yeah, so that’s the next major, unexpected purchase we will be making. Home ownership, ladies and gentlemen — it’s a trip.
