A couple weeks ago, I found this set of artificial trees and instantly fell in love with them for my front porch for the holiday season.

I have been wanting miniature trees at my front door for several years now, but I have never been able to find ones that weren’t over priced. These from Walmart, though, are only $25! That’s a price I was willing to pay for tiny trees.

Even though the pre-lit beauties are inexpensive compared to similar trees I have found, I love that they do not look cheap. That was something I worried about before I took them out of the box.

While they are great on their own, I did decide to dress them up a little to align more with my style.

First, I found some rustic-style galvanized buckets at Marshalls. I figured the trees, which come in a decorative plastic pot, would fit nicely down in the new tubs and I could fill in the remaining empty space with burlap for an even richer rustic holiday vibe.

For the flocking effect, I bought a can of fake snow and sprayed the trees with a heavy coat.

Helpful tip: “Flocking” your trees is definitely an outdoor project since the fake snow goes everywhere. Your trees will also need a couple of hours to dry completely. If you decide to take on this project, make sure to choose a day where the trees can be outside for an extended period of time.

I let the first layer dry completely, then touched up a few spots I missed and added an even heavier spray to a few branches to give it a more flocked finish.

Once I was happy with the snowy results, I placed my trees in their new pots and set them out by my front door.

That’s it! This project is so quick and easy, and it’s a great way to dress up the front of your house for the holidays.
