For my 29th birthday in March, I asked my husband for a new vacuum. That’s the true sign you’re getting old, right?

I picked one out weeks in advance, sent links to my husband, and casually pointed to it during our weekly Target runs. I wanted to make sure he knew exactly which vacuum I had my eye on.

Then, a couple days before my birthday, we were in Target (surprise, surprise) and he scooped up the box and placed in it our shopping cart. I suppose he had enough of my antics and decided to go ahead and buy this bad boy.

I proudly walked that thing to the checkout and took it home for him to assemble.

At 10 p.m. that evening, I vacuumed our bedroom floor twice and then stared in awe at the amount of pet hair that was sucked into the canister. We are by no means dirty people and I vacuum at least 3 times a week. But up until we brought this new gadget home, our vacuum was very old and struggled to really pull pet hair and dirt out of the carpet (and when you have multiple pets, you need something that is designed specifically for keeping animal hair at a minimum).

First and foremost when we’re talking about the functionality of the BISSELL CleanView Swivel Rewind Pet Vacuum Cleaner, it’s important to address the suction capability. After all, that’s the key selling point of a vacuum, right?

We have a border collie that seems to shed every month of the year and a cat, and the amount of embedded pet hair this vacuum is able to pull out of my carpet is wildly impressive. I can vacuum 1/4 of my bedroom and fill the canister halfway. Keep in mind, I vacuum multiple times each week.

Even with picking up all of that pet hair, the vacuum has never gotten clogged.

3 /// Swivel steering

One of the things I love most about this vacuum is how easy it is to maneuver because of the swivel steering. It smoothly glides across the floor and turns from left to right without much effort.

With our old vacuum, I absolutely hated wrapping the cord back up after each use, so the cord stayed tangled nearly all the time.

The cord rewind feature on the BISSELL CleanView Swivel Rewind Pet Vacuum Cleaner keeps me from fighting with the cord and makes it so easy to quickly put away our vacuum once the floors are clean.

You simply hit the cord rewind button on the side and the cord is sucked back into the machine.

This might be odd to admit, but I’m going to go for it. I love that I can see exactly what is in the canister each time I vacuum. It’s almost mesmerizing to see what the machine picks up.

I like to call it instant gratification.

6 /// Easy to clean

I also appreciate that this particular vacuum is easy to take apart and clean as needed. I can quickly remove the filter and wash it (hello money saving!). I haven’t had to do this yet, but I can also easily clean the brush roller if pet hair were to get stuck in it.

7 /// Specialty tools

If you haven’t noticed yet, this is an upright vacuum. However, it does come with several hose attachments that make it easy to suction hair off of multiple surfaces in your home.

I most often use the TurboEraser tool on our couches and the dusting tool on my window blinds and baseboards.

8 /// Edge-to-edge cleaning

As a pet owner, you probably understand that animal hair loves to collect in little piles against walls and in the corners of rooms. It’s annoying and can be a pain to keep under control, but the edge-to-edge cleaning on the BISSELL CleanView Swivel Rewind Pet Vacuum Cleaner makes it easy to do so.

The head of the vacuum has brushes on each side that allow you to gather animal hair and dirt from right up against walls.

9 /// Carpet and hard floor capabilities

The final feature I love most about this vacuum is its ability to go from carpet to hard floors. I use it throughout my home — we have carpet, hardwoods, and tile — and have never had an issue with the suction on any of those surfaces.

The vacuum has manual height adjustments so you can drop it as low as you need or make it high, depending of the surface you’re cleaning.
