When Justin and I had our little guy’s nursery painted a few weeks ago we went ahead and had the painters work on our master bathroom, as well.

The ceilings and walls in both of these rooms are extremely tall and require an extension ladder for painting. That’s simply not something Justin and I wanted to fool with right now. And, honestly, at this point in my pregnancy (hello, obsessive and stressed nesting Hali), paying someone else to do that work for us was worth every penny.

Once our bathroom was painted, I realized that the space could use some additional TLC to make it cozy. Nothing wild, just some updated stylings to make the room pretty.

I went with Sherwin-Williams Snowbound for the walls, which, in my opinion, is one of the best shades of white for your walls. For the bathroom decor, I wanted to make sure I chose things that would complement our home but also break up some of the stark white of the walls and still create a room I want to be in.

Plus, I didn’t want to spend much money updating this space. We have other home improvement projects we’re tackling before the baby comes that require more of our funds, so I needed to do this room on the cheap.

Here’s what I came up:

Botanical wall prints: I searched Etsy for inexpensive art I could print myself and frame. These botanical wall prints were perfect for the industrial, cozy, and natural vibe I wanted to create in our master bathroom and they were only $6! I printed them on cardstock and placed them in some cheap black frames

Industrial towel hooks: We removed our old towel rack for the painters and instead of putting it back on the wall when they were done, we hung these hooks next to the shower. I found a set of six hooks for $12; we placed a row of four under this window, one next to the bathtub, and one next to the sink for a hand towel.

Wall shelves: Pictures of bathrooms with wall shelves above the bathtub always catch my eye. Luckily, we had some leftover wood boards from a previous project that we were easily able to repurpose as shelves for this space. {Check out my DIY wall shelf tutorial!}

My original plan was to hang three shelves, but once we had two on the wall, we realized a third would have been too much. For the brackets, I found this set of six for $30 (the cheapest per bracket cost I could find). They are great for an industrial style and come with all the screws and wall anchors you need for mounting and hanging.

Simple decor: I kept the shelf stylings practical (I didn’t want clutter) with a glass apothecary jar holding our soaps, white towels, another glass jar filled with epsom salt, and a chippy antique bowl for sponges.

To hold rolls of toilet paper, I also brought in a basket I already had.

I am still on the hunt for a small storage cabinet since our master bathroom has almost no storage space. I would love to find something that is small enough to sit next to the toilet and hold linens, toilet paper, and other bathroom necessities.

Other than that, I am pleased with the impact these small and inexpensive updates made on our master bathroom.
